The German Federal Government has decided to allocate another EUR 2.5 million for the implementation of humanitarian projects of the Caritas Ukraine Charitable Foundation in the east of Ukraine in 2018-2019, the German Embassy in Kyiv said on Wednesday.

Moreover, the German Caritas Association will additionally allocate EUR 150,000.

The embassy noted that the project's activities will be focused on Luhansk and Donetsk regions, but those who need help in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporozhia regions will be also able to use it.

Through the implementation of various humanitarian activities, Caritas will provide heating materials, fuel and basic food products to about 18,000 people who are affected by the Donbass conflict. In addition, many citizens, including chronically ill and elderly people, will get access to medical care.

The German Caritas Association together with Caritas Ukraine for many years has been supporting people who need help and socially vulnerable strata of the population in Ukraine, including internally displaced persons. The federal government in 2014-2017 already provided EUR 6.3 million to fund humanitarian activities of Caritas.
