Average salary should be brought to UAH 10,000, minimum wage can be increased only if GDP growth accelerates

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said that in 218, average salary in the country should be brought to UAH 10,000, and the minimum wage could be increased only if growth of the national economy accelerates.

"I am sure that our main task for next year is to bring average salary in the country to at least UAH 10,000," he said on ICTV on Monday.

The prime minister said that today average wage in the country is UAH 7,400.

"For next year, 2018, we project growth of minimum wage by another UAH 500, to UAH 3,723, and this is announced in the budget," he said.

Groysman said that the larger increase is possible only if the economic growth accelerates.

"Of course, we want more, but it would be more possible only when the national economy is able to develop more rapidly. I think that we would be able to discuss this decision in 2018," he said.

As reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko Poroshenko considers it real to raise the minimum wage in Ukraine to UAH 4,100.
