Some 125 towns in Donetsk, Luhansk regions have 3G communications

Residents of 94 towns and settlements in Donetsk region and 31 towns in Luhansk region received access to 3G communications network as of early August, the press service of the state-owned enterprise Ukrainian State Center of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) said on Tuesday, referring to Director for Radio Frequency Assignments Yevhen Mirzakov.

"As of early August UCRF carried out tasks to calculate electromagnetic compatibility of radio-electronic equipment and issued permits to mobile operators to exploit around 730 towers, including around 600 in Donetsk region and over 130 in Luhansk region," Mirzakov said.

He said that Mariupol has 204 towers, Kramatorsk 69, Sloviansk 43, Bakhmut 32, Kostiantynivka 23 (Donetsk region) and Severodonetsk 36, Lysychansk 23, Rubizhne 15 and Starobelsk 12 (Luhansk region).

He said that the UCRF specialists are trying to quickly process the applications to issue permits for towers of IMT-2000/UMTS/3G standard to cover the eastern part of Ukraine with 3G communications services.

The press service said that UCRF issues permits to Vodafone-Ukraine, Kyivstar and lifecell only for the Kyiv controlled areas.
