The further deregulation in the construction sphere should aim at balancing the interests of local authorities and construction companies, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has aid.

"There are many things that should be made in deregulation of the construction sector. We have conducted decentralization – transferred powers to approve projects, build facilities to local authorities… It is important to create a balance that local authorities using their power do not make cities and towns hostages of constructors. On the other hand, constructors should not be hostages of local authorities which restrict their opportunities. Our task is to carry out rational regulation to protect the interests of people who live on the territories and, on the other hand, to create a normal, high-quality climate for construction," he said at a meeting with regional journalists on Monday.

He pointed out the importance of creating the conditions for long-term crediting in the construction sector by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

"The NBU recently showed a fall in refinancing rate and currency deregulation. I think that there are many things to do to open the normal crediting market with affordable interest," he said.
