Ukraine initiates three cases against Russia within WTO

The Ukrainian government has approved the procedure for protection of Ukraine's rights and interests in trade and economic field within the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which will enable to initiate consideration of three cases against the Russian Federation within the WTO, First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv has said.

"Draft relevant resolutions with the requirements for consultation and convening experts have been prepared," he said, introducing the document at a cabinet meeting in Kyiv.

At the same time, the minister did not specify what specific cases against the Russian Federation are considered.

As reported, the Russian Federation from 2016 abolished a free trade zone regime for Ukraine, introduced food embargo and restrictions on transit of Ukrainian goods. Ukrainian authorities introduced response trade sanctions against Russia, except for restrictions on transit, and announced intention to file a complaint to the WTO.
