Prosecutors prevent UAH 246 mln damage to state, won’t permit Crimea Titan to extend lease of Irshansk GOK

The prosecutor's office has prevented financial damage worth more than UAH 246 million being incurred by the state and has protected the interests of the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPF), and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in court, as the courts have prevented PJSC Crimea Titan, part of Group DF belonging to Dmytro Firtash, to extend its lease of the integrated property complex Irshansk mining and processing plant (GOK).

According to the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO), with the participation of the Kyiv prosecutor's office, the Economic Court rejected the claim made by Crimea Titan to the SPF on recognizing pre-emptive rights to the extension of its lease of Irshansk GOK (Zhytomyr region).

The core business of GOK is titanium ore extraction and enrichment.

"It is established that the property complex has been used by the plaintiff since 2004. However, in August 2014 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution on some issues to ensure the functioning of titanium enterprises, according to which the integrated property complex of Irshansk GOK after the termination of the lease agreement was transferred to the management of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. Thus, this property complex cannot be used by a private joint-stock company," reads a PGO press release.
