Three-star hotel segment remains one of most promising for development, says expert

Demand for three-star hotels in Ukraine is not satisfied, and the segments is still promising for development on the hospitality market, a managing partner of ArtBuild Hotel Group (ABHG, Kyiv), the official representative of the Best Western International chain (the United States), Oleksiy Yevchenko, has said.

"In recent years the midscale segment [three-star hotels] was most developed one. Despite the fact that nominally it is the most numerous, demand for hotels in this segment is not satisfied, especially taking into account the quality of the current supply and the price of rooms," Yevchenko told Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that the midscale segment in Ukraine has a lot of potential for development.

"As for Ukraine, here the said hotel projects are the most promising area of the hotel market, with a lot of potential. A modern high-quality midscale hotel, built in line with all the required modern technologies and standards, if part of a global hotel chain and under professional management, is optimal for domestic tourists and western mass tourism focused on the optimal ratio between price and quality, and the business client, who has to use the services of more expensive hotels or hire apartments," he said.

Yevchenko said that the concentration of hotels under the management of international brands in the midscale segment in Ukraine today is very low, while foreign tourists do not trust the national system of hotel categorization as it has absolutely discredited itself and it is not in line with western quality control standards.

ArtBuild Hotel Group is one of the first companies in Ukraine providing hotel fee-development and consulting services. The company realizes hotel real estate projects in the two-, three- and four-star segments.

Since 2011, ABHG has been an official representative of Best Western International in Ukraine.
