The official ceremony for opening the Rio 2016 Paralympics has been held in the Marakana Statdium in Rio de Jeneiro, Brazil.

The games are host to more than 4,500 sportsmen and sportswomen, who will compete for 428 medals in 22 sports (the 2012 Paralympics included 20 sports and 503 medal competitions. New events these games are the paracanoe and paratriatholon.

Rio Paralympics 2016 will be held from September 7 to September 18 in Rio de Janeiro. Ukraine's paralympics squad is the largest ever with 155 Ukrainian athletes competing in 14 sport contests in the games.
