Israel's policy towards Ukrainian citizens, including the introduction of visas and high bail, has led to Israeli volunteers raising funds so that Ukrainian refugees can avoid deportation. This is stated in the publication «Details».

«On the evening of Friday, July 1, the border control detained him at the airport. Ben-Gurion to two children from the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi and their elderly grandmother. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs demanded a large deposit - 50 thousand shekels - fearing that the visitors could stay in Israel, and were preparing for their deportation, but Israeli volunteers managed to collect the necessary amount in literally 10 minutes. The children were able to reunite with their mother, who currently lives and works in Israel», - the message reads.

According to the publication, the mother of the children came to Israel to work legally for two years, but after the visa expired, she remained in the country, she is protected from deportation by the decision of the Israeli court while the war in Ukraine continues.

«Of course, she couldn't fly to Ukraine to see her children, they simply wouldn't let her back to Israel afterwards. The family decided to come to my mother for 2-3 months, they had permission to board the plane, obtained from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Israel. But the authorities demanded bail and wanted to deport the children and the old woman back to Romania, from where they flew to Israel», - the publication notes.

According to the publication, the non-governmental organization AFI Israel, which launched the "Guild for Refugees" program, helped with the collection of funds.

«Since the beginning of the aggression, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Israel has demanded a deposit of 10,000 shekels per person from all Israelis who wish to give asylum to refugees from Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not accept bank guarantees - only «live» money. In this case, the money for the guarantee of the family was collected in 10 minutes. A woman named Inna brought 30,000 in cash to the airport. Another 10,000 was given by the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel, and the last 10,000 was another private donor who wished to remain anonymous», - the article emphasizes.

The author of the article also calls on the Israeli authorities to «decide» their policy regarding refugees from the war in Ukraine, as it is currently very vague, and even those who are allowed to enter receive very little help from the state.

«If Maksym, Masha and their grandmother were citizens of Russia, the aggressor country, they would have entered Israel without any special obstacles, like ordinary tourists. For this, they would not need additional permits», - he emphasized.
