Principles of interaction in online school

Today, distance learning around the world is not just one of the forms of learning, it is a global necessity. Despite the fact that many participants in the educational process have returned to the usual full-time education, distance learning exists in parallel and is successfully developing, moreover, the number of parents who prefer online or distance learning for their children is increasing every year.

At the same time, new educational institutions, schools, gymnasiums, lyceums are appearing, which are completely switching to a distance format. One of these institutions is the licensed ACCENT school, where the basic principles of distance learning are successfully implemented.

The first basic principle of interaction for effective distance learning is the context and design of lessons. At the ACCENT school, the Microsoft Teams platform was chosen as the learning space. Each student has a personal account in which there are "teams" - these are academic subjects. Each team has educational materials: video presentations for each topic of the lesson, a summary where the main theses, definitions, formulas, etc. related to this topic, homework are presented. When assigning control papers by the teacher, the student receives a notification on his electronic device. If the work is not completed and not delivered on time, the teacher informs the student in the chat. Also in the chat, students can ask questions to teachers, communicate with other students of the school.

The second important principle of effective learning is motivation. In an ordinary school, the characteristics and conditions of students are not always taken into account, because there is a strictly restrictive regime and lesson schedule. But it is difficult for some students to get up early and start studying from 8 in the morning, often for this reason children are involved in active activities, or even come to school only by the second lesson. The student is not always ready for active interaction with the teacher during the lesson, and not all teachers are sympathetic to the condition of students and require them to be active and involved. This is a reason for misunderstandings, conflicts and, as a result, a decrease in motivation to study. With distance learning, a student has the opportunity to go to a lesson at any time, watch a video presentation, complete a task. If you need additional clarification, contact the teacher. There is no pressure from the teacher, you can look at the incomprehensible points of the lesson topic again, check with the teacher. All this creates a favorable learning atmosphere and increases motivation.

The next important principle of successful learning is a favorable environment and climate of the learning space. In an ordinary school, there are 30-40 students in the class, who each perceive the educational material in their own way, as well as are brought up differently and do not always react correctly to the answers of classmates. It is not for nothing that bullying is an urgent problem of modern schools. School bullying has the most unpleasant consequences for all participants: students who are bullied are depressed, prone to developing mental disorders, aggressor children experience problems with school performance, often violate the rules of behavior at school and force the teaching staff to maintain discipline instead of conducting lessons, eyewitnesses of bullying often feel fear of being in the victim's place and may join the bullying or feel guilty for their non-interference and get injured by an observer. The consequence of an unhealthy atmosphere in the classroom is general tension, alienation, cruelty, self-doubt, distrust, which negatively affects the learning process. Unlike a regular school, distance learning negates the possibility of bullying students and teachers, communication is not forced, but at will and interests. Each student has the opportunity to learn the educational material at his own pace, taking into account individual capabilities in a favorable learning atmosphere.

Other important principles of effective learning are flexibility, structuring, clear roles, fair assessment, openness, accessibility. All these principles are successfully implemented when studying at the ACCENT distance school, which can be found in more detail on the website akcent-school.com
