Today, in the press center of the "Interfax-Ukraine" news agency, took place a presentation of the "Vitold Fokin Coordination Center of Social Assistance".

The event was attended by the Chair of the public organization, Vitold Fokin and Vice-Chair - Igor Fokin.

The Chair of the public organization brought the attention of the audience to the importance of providing social assistance to the population of the eastern regions of Ukraine, which are suffering from the consequences of the warfare.

He stressed that the war-ravaged Luhansk and Donetsk regions are not ordinary geographical names. They are a part of blessed Ukrainian land that has made us citizens of a country that has been devotedly served for over seventy years.

"Its fate was tragic: until recently, a prosperous land, the industrial heart of Ukraine, lies in ruins, mines flooded, factories destroyed, and fertile land generously littered with mine and shell fragments. My hometown of Pervomaisk, of which I am an honorary citizen, lost three-quarters of its housing stock. Hundreds of thousands of workers, former labour guards, became "displaced persons". They have lost not only all their property but also documents that prove their citizenship and confirm the very fact of their existence on Earth, certificates entitling them to a legal pension, inheritance, certificates of marriage, education, etc.", - said in his speech Vitold Fokin.

Vitold Fokin Coordination Center of Social Assistance aims to help people and focuses its activities on providing assistance in obtaining (restoring) state-standard documents (passport of a citizen of Ukraine, birth certificate, death certificate, registration of pensions, obtaining a certificate on the right to inheritance and its registration, etc.) by providing legal advice, and their further legal support.

Higher-level state authorities of Ukraine are putting significant effort into minimizing the effects of the war on the population. At the same time, there are several other problems the solution of which millions of people affected by the warfare are waiting for.

"The time will come and the relevant services will honestly calculate the losses, but even without this, it is clear that without the real help of the global community, without the cohesion of Ukrainian society, without - do not be afraid - without the participation of people, whom we do not quite right call "oligarchs", those, who realized the real value of their patriotism - the revival of the eastern territory of Ukraine will not end in 100 years,"- stressed Vitold Fokin.

Of course, Ukraine as a welfare state will not leave the population of the territories affected by the warfare alone with the disaster. But on its scale, this assistance may not be adequate.

He also added that the case undertaken by the public organization is completely new for us: "I would like to have your support, any advice, remarks, constructive criticism".
