At the end of June, ukrainian orthopaedic surgeons performed an operation to install the «Most» transpedicular spine stabilization system to 15-year-old Kirill from Kharkiv, who was diagnosed with stage four idiopathic scoliosis.

«My son was diagnosed with a severe form of scoliosis at the end of 2018. When the doctors said that Kirill needed an expensive operation using special equipment I was literally shocked, because I didn’t know where to go and what to do. That amount of money was really huge for me, even more, I didn’t know any specialists who would be able to perform the operation with high standards. Without the operation my son would have remained disabled for the whole life», told the boy’s mother Tamara.

Later, she learned about the «Renaissance Medico» international charitable foundation, which was founded by ukrainian businessman Vladimir Manukian. The foundation supports scientific developments, the production of special medical equipment and also actively cooperates with the Kharkiv scientific enterprise «Vostok-N», which has been producing fixation systems for replacing bone defects since 1997.

«Vostok-N» also produces specialized systems for stabilization of the spine which called «Most», this system is very effective for children, because it literally «grows» with them. The principle of the «Most» system is as follows: the child grows, his spine is gradually pulled up and pulls the sliding part of the metal rods due to the thread.

With the help of the «Renaissance Medico», Tamara ordered a special spinal stabilization system for Kirill and also raised money for the operation. The operation was successful and now Kirill is undergoing rehabilitation.

«Unfortunately, such operations are often required. The reasons can be very different: from congenital features to injuries. Therefore, knowing the urgency of the problem, «Vostok-N» developed special systems for stabilizing the spine. They have been used for several years now and have proven themselves excellent. Frankly speaking, it is a great pleasure to see how our developments help people return a full life», said Vladimir Manukian.

He also added that «Vostok-N» together with Sytenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology created a number of other unique technologies that help people with severe disease of the musculoskeletal system. «Renaissance Medico» is trying to support the production of unique titanium implants, which are really needed in the field of cardiac surgery, oncology, prosthetics, neurosurgery, dentistry and even military surgery.
