February 12, an exhibition of the Prague artist Alexander Onishenko opened in the Kyiv History Museum, which will last for two weeks. Alexander Onishchenko is a citizen of the Czech Republic, though was born in the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv. Back in the 80s, he became the founder of a new technique for painting, namely the application of paint on black canvas. Today, Alexander is a recognized artist worldwide, he has his own gallery in Prague, and also regularly exhibits his works around the world, including the USA, Great Britain, Germany and even Malaysia.

The special guest of the evening was the composer and virtuoso pianist Evgeny Khmara, who played own compositions on the grand piano. Thus, a symbiosis of two types of arts took place: the guests could admire the oil paintings and listen to instrumental music at the same time.

Evgeny Khmara and Alexander Onishenko had already experience of cooperation, creating a unique video: “The Birth of a Masterpiece”. This video shows step by step the process of creating a picture on a black canvas with the magical music of Evgeny Khmara on the background.
