At the end of March on the stage of “Skhid Opera” (Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M.V.Lysenko) the premiere of the ballet “Spartacus” to the music of A.Khachaturian will be held, with the participation of over 200 opera and ballet, opera and choir artists under the direction of the world-famous choreographer and director Georgiy Kovtun.

“In the modern world we can observe a tendency of deletion of boundaries between separate artistic trends. We want to surprise the Ukrainian audience not only by the new approach to the well-known historic person, who is depicted in quite a “different” way, but also to synthesize, using the various means available to us, the classical ballet, modern dance, musical orchestral art, choral singing, circus and stunt elements into a powerful live theatre “blockbuster”,  - announced the Director General – Artistic Director of the theatre Oleg Orishchenko.

For the first time ever in the history of productions of “Spartacus” in various editions, on the stage of “Skhid Opera” the full renovated score of the music of the great Armenian composer A. Khachaturian will be used, with the participation of the chorus of the theatre.  Non-standard production of the ballet featuring elements of acrobatics, new provocative libretto, mass orgies and battles, amazing sensitive love scenes, - all these distinctive features are to make “Spartacus” the most large-scale and spectacular ballet production in Ukraine.

After the premiere in Kharkiv it is planned to demonstrate the new “Spartacus” to the audience of Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv and Dnipro.
