Ilya Kyva: Victory Day will always be a holiday for us - the descendants of great people who have defeated fascism
The Victory Day will always remain a holiday, which unites in the sense of pride for the ancestors who stopped fascism. The leader of the Socialist Party of Ukraine, Ilya Kyva, said on the TV channel "112" after laying flowers to the Memorial of Eternal Glory, the press service of the SPU informs on the official site of the party.
"For all of us, the Holiday of Victory is a holiday that unites, it is a holiday of pride. Pride for the fact, that we were able to give the world the opportunity to live, for what we made, we - means Ukrainians! After all, we made a huge contribution to the victory over fascism, which is recognized throughout the world as a plague and a tragedy", he said.
At the same time, I.Kyva added: "We are the descendants of those people, who made the Great Feat, a great act of self-sacrifice. Pride, joy and great honor to be their descendants".
The politician also stressed, that for him this day is especially important in connection with the contribution made by his grandfather, the Hero of the World War 2, who inspired him to go to Donbass in 2014 and to confront the aggressor country.
"May 9 for my grandfather - commander of the assault 26th battalion, honorary citizen of Hungary, Hero of the Soviet Union, Philip Kyva, - May 9 was a great holiday. For my father, this is a great holyday, for me and for my son. And so in my family will always be", said I.Kyva.
