On December 7, 2009, the InterContinental Hotel in Kyiv will host the first international conference on the development of the Ukrainian oil market. The organizer of the event is the A-95 Consulting Group. The conference will be held with the official assistance of the Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Ministry and the Energy Regional Customs Service.
The general partner of the conference is the TNK-BP group of companies in Ukraine. The partners of the event are Orlen Lietuva (earlier known as Mazeikiu Nafta, Lithuania), as well as the OKKO and Formula filling station networks.
The Interfax-Ukraine News Agency, the Delo daily business newspaper, the Energobusiness weekly magazine, and the ProRetail magazine will render information support for the forum.
The program of the conference concerns all of the key issues of oil market functioning, including state policies in the sphere of antimonopoly laws and competition, the system of providing the market with oil products, and the marketing of the filling station business. Head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine Oleksandr Melnychenko and Chief of the Energy Regional Customs Service Oleksandr Koniev will speak on behalf of government agencies. High-ranking representatives from the Economy Ministry and the Fuel and Energy Ministry are also expected to present reports.
Half of the session day will be dedicated to the consideration of urgent issues on the functioning and development of the Ukrainian oil market. The top managers of Ukraine's largest companies, as well as national and foreign experts, are expected to deliver reports.
In particular, reports will be presented by TNK-BP Ukraine President Sergey Lizunov and Orlen Lietuva Deputy General Director for Commercial Sales Jacek Szafranski. Particular attention during the conference will be paid to the management and marketing of the filling station business, which is currently in great need of new solutions for tackling the consequences of the economic crisis. The main speech during this session block will be a report by Dr. Patrick White (Britain) who will give a master class for experts from Ukrainian companies in the sphere of the marketing of filling station networks. Reports by experts from Spain, Lithuania and Ukraine will give added value to this session block on the development of the fuel retail sector.
Ukraine's largest oil market operators have already been accredited to participate in the conference. They include TNK-BP Commerce, Continuum-Halychyna, Ukrtatnafta, Orlen Lietuva, Lukoil-Ukraine, Galnaftogaz Concern, Parallel, Vikoil, Shell Retail Ukraine, and other companies. The organizers expect the forum to attract at least a hundred participants.
"Long-term experience and an uninterrupted dialogue with oil market operators gives us full understanding of the problems that exist in this sector, therefore the conference's program was drafted to address the key problems of the market," said Serhiy Kuyun, the director of the A-95 Consulting Group and the moderator of the conference. "Authoritative Ukrainian and foreign speakers, as well as the expert level of staff and representation of the delegations of participants in the conference allows us to say confidently that the forum will be the central venue for professional sector communication in Ukraine," he said.
