DOING BUSINESS IN ENGLISH 2009 fair, followed by VIP-reception for CEOs at HM’s Ambassador’s Residence

3 min read

On October 14th and 15th two unique events, dedicated to modern business globalization, working in English, and educational programmes in the UK, will take place in Kiev. They are: Doing Business in English 2009 fair (Radisson SAS hotel, 22 Yaroslavov Val, Kiev) and VIP-reception for CEOs at HM’s Ambassador’s Residence.

Fair agenda: speeches by Leigh Turner, HM’s Ambassador in Ukraine, and Margaret Jack, the head of the British Council in Ukraine; presentations by companies, experienced at educating their staff in the UK: Siemens Ukraine, JTI (Ukraine), Citibank (Ukraine), topical seminars and round-table discussions. The event is traditionally organized by the education agency Business Link in partnership with HM’s Embassy in Ukraine, the association of accredited centres BusinessEnglishUK, and the British Council.

Given the galloping globalization rates, the number of companies, working not only in Russian or Ukrainian, but English as well, is growing rapidly. Fluent English is not an option, but a point of dire necessity, even in purely Ukrainian companies.

How to thoroughly educate the staff, when one lacks time and needs to fulfill his/her professional tasks simultaneously? Is speaking English enough, or are there specific methods of working in English? Where do they get the funds to educate the staff in the other countries? Can Ukrainian companies afford this? Or – can they afford not to educate their staff abroad?

Get the answers to all these questions at Doing Business in English 2009 fair. Use your chance to meet British educators and your more experienced colleagues in person.

Most of Business Link’s British partners specialize in educational programmes for business and professionals. They have been working with us for a long time, and they are aware of our corporate clientele’s, and Ukrainian professional’s, requirements. You can study English in school, if you will, but our partners are going to teach you how to work in English in your specific sphere.

Surely, students, which plan to make an international career, receive internationally acknowledged qualifications, study in British schools or universities, are welcome too. They may be particularly interested in companies like INTO, which help young people enter universities (the so-called Foundation programme).

Fair participants:

• Kaplan International Colleges (London, Bournemouth etc.);

• St. Giles International (London, Nottingham etc.);

• Inlingua (Cheltenham);

• OISE (Oxford, London etc.);

• Eurocentres (London, Bournemouth etc.);

• BBSI (Bournemouth);

• Ceran (Warwick);

• INTO (Manchester, Norwich etc.);

• Southbourne (Bournemouth);

• ILS English (Nottingham);

• Chichester College (Chichester).

Heads of Ukrainian and international companies are invited to the VIP-reception at HM’s Ambassador’s Residence. It is a unique opportunity to broaden one’s contact network, and exchange experience in educating the staff to bring the work process up to the European standards. It is also a chance of informal communication with British educators, and of discussing individual education schemes.
