Krzysztof Zanussi and Liubomyr Deresh will open Second International Expert Session The Second International Expert Session called “How to make intellect a development resource for Ukraine?” takes place October 4-5, 2013 in Kyiv. Opening the Session will be Krzysztof Zanussi, renowned Polish filmmaker, and Ukrainian man of letters Liubomyr Deresh. The Expert Session is presented by the Ukraine’s Future Foundation. “It is the intellectual capital of a country that determines its place in civilizational processes in this world. In Ukraine, the support and development of intellectual resources has long been off the radar for both ordinary Ukrainians and their government. Understanding the priority and urgency of this issue offers an opportunity to bring together the main actors in social progress—government, business and the intellectual community—to focus their efforts on making Ukraine a thinking society,” says Ukraine’s Future Foundation Acting Director Yuriy Chudnovskiy. Our key presenters at the October 4 Expert Session will be: Krzysztof Zanussi, renowned director and screenwriter, Poland; Liubomyr Deresh, writer and intellectual, Ukraine; Hank Kune, Founder & Director, Educore BV, The Netherlands; Natalia Zabolotna, General Director of the Mystetskiy Arsenal National Cultural Art and Museum Complex, Ukraine; Natalia Shulha, Executive Director, Ukrainian Science Club, Ukraine; Ulvia Mikayilova, Executive Director, Center for Innovation in Education, Azerbaijan; Volodymyr Nikitin, Chairman of the Board, International Institute for Future Studies, Ukraine; Aleksandr Rappaport, Senior Research Specialist, Department of Architectural Theory, Institute of Theoretical and Historical Architectural and Urban Studies, Latvia; Sergei Pereslegin, physicist, sociologist, military historian, sci-fi researcher and theorist, publicist, Russia; Volodymyr Nudelman, Professor, Department of Urban Development, Kyiv National University of Building and Architecture (KNUBA), Ukraine; Arnis Ritups, Publisher of Rigas Laikes, an intellectual magazine, Latvia; and Yaroslav Yatskiv, Director of the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukraine. During the Second International Expert Session on October 4, we will also announce the first national grant competition called “Ukraine’s Intellectual Capital” with the participation of the members of the Competition Jury and the Foundation’s Supervisory Board. On October 5, we will hold an open discussion with the Competition Executive. Everyone who has ideas for how to develop intellectual capital in Ukraine and is ready to fight to get granting support can discuss their ideas with the Competition Executive and find out more about the conditions for eligibility, how to fill out the application form and put together a budget, the review process, and the selection of winning projects.
