Ukrainian aviation: overcoming a zone of turbulence

4 min read

The Ukrainian aviation market is undergoing various stages of transformation, and is struggling with the consequences of the AeroSvit crisis, which affected not just a single airline, but also the reputation of the entire industry. In addition, there is a redistribution of power and the formation of new alliances, and new players on the market. At the same time, many experts note a negative tendency toward monopolization the industry.

At the present moment, at a time of significant changes in market conditions that have laid the foundation for further development of the sector, it has to identify the main vectors and conclude agreements for the long term.

Today members of the aviation industry of Ukraine have a unique opportunity to influence the industry to contribute to its development and try to solve the problems, and describe the phenomena which adversely affect their business.

The first step in this direction is a dialogue of all stakeholders. For this purpose on March 27, 2013, Kyiv will host "Commercial Aviation: International Experience and Ukrainian Realities," the first roundtable of its kind.

"The aviation industry of Ukraine is like a roller coaster: the entry of new carriers and large-scale infrastructure development in connection with the Euro 2012 has been replaced by the bankruptcies of airlines.

"The Asters Law Firm is always in the thick of things, and we are ready to share their experience and work to improve the law and the investment climate in the aviation industry. Undoubtedly, this round table will be very interesting and important step in this direction," said Vadym Samoilenko, a partner of the law firm.

Roman Marchenko, lawyer, senior partner of law firm Ilyashev and Partners said: "We have decided to support this event to share its extensive experience and expertise of working with major airlines. Our company has for many years provided legal support to a number of aviation companies, airlines, and airports, and we try to do everything for the business development of our clients. Our contribution to the industry consists in improvement of the legal framework of our country in the field of aviation. We look forward in the framework of the round table to discuss critical issues, to communicate with the participants of the aviation market and perhaps through joint efforts find a solution to the current problems."

Ukrainian and foreign aircraft manufacturers, domestic and foreign operators, owners and managers of Ukrainian and foreign airlines, legal advisers to airlines, leasing companies and government representatives are invited to participate in the round table.

The event is organized by Event Envoy Company.
