Ukrainian Hockey Federation (UHF) Responds to the So-Called "General Congress" in Kremenchuk – Illegitimate, Contradicts Court Order

2 min read

On September 22, an officially unrecognized "General Congress of UHF" took place in Kremenchuk, contrary to the current legislation and the organization's Statute. During the meeting, it was announced that a "new president of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation" had been "elected," with the organizers naming Serhhiy Mazur, owner of the Kremenchuk Hockey Club, as the new president.

However, at the official level, the Ukrainian Hockey Federation (UHF) issued a statement emphasizing that the Federation does not recognize the results of any voting at the so-called "General Congress" in Kremenchuk, as it was held in violation of the UHF Statute and the laws of Ukraine.

According to UHF's statement, the initiative to convene this "congress" was put forward by a portion of the Federation Council members on July 19, 2024, but it was carried out in an illegal manner. The protocol of this gathering of Federation Council members was not registered by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine (document attached).

"In connection with the attempt at an illegal takeover of the organization, the National Police of Ukraine has opened a criminal investigation. Within the framework of this investigation, a prohibition was issued on making changes to the registration documents (including the composition of the governing bodies), and searches were conducted among several involved individuals," the UHF’s official statement noted.

"We regret that due to such actions driven by personal ambitions, Ukrainian hockey is suffering. Their actions are aimed solely at the destruction of hockey and a desire for power at any cost," commented the current UHF president, Georgiy Zubko.

It should be noted that in July 2024, several members of the Federation Council were suspended from their duties by the UHF Disciplinary Committee. However, in violation of the UHF Statute, the suspended members of the Federation Council participated in the so-called UHF Council meeting on July 19, 2024, where they attempted to appoint Oleksandra Slatvytska as acting president of the UHF. However, the protocol of this meeting was not accepted by the Ministry of Justice, and accordingly, changes to the register were not recorded. A criminal case was initiated against several organizers of this raider action for document forgery.

Furthermore, the court issued a prohibition on making any changes to the register that contains information about the UHF's leadership.
