Ukraine conducting separate negotiation track on signing security agreement with EU – Zhovkva

Ukraine, in addition to negotiations with EU member states on concluding bilateral agreements on security guarantees, is also conducting a separate negotiation track on signing a security agreement with the European Union, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva said.

"I would like to mention another important stage in relations with the EU. You have already seen that security agreements have been signed with some European states. There is also a separate track between Ukraine and the European Union regarding security guarantees," Zhovkva said at a panel discussion at the forum "Ukraine. Year 2024" which takes place on Sunday.

As he noted, at a certain stage such a document will be signed between Ukraine and the EU, but today the main goal for Ukraine is to sign bilateral security guarantees with most, if not all, EU members.

However, Zhovkva said not all EU states have even joined the Vilnius Declaration.

"We know about these states. We strive for such states, including Ukraine's neighbors, to become guarantors of our security," he said.

"Ukraine is and will remain a reliable partner of the EU, and our path to the EU is a component of our victory," the deputy head of the Presidential Office said.
