Over 50 MEPs suggest personal sanctions against Russian citizens involved in Savchenko's imprisonment

Members of the European Parliament have sent a letter to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini offering to introduce personal sanctions against those involved in the imprisonment of Ukrainian parliamentarian and pilot Nadia Savchenko, MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski said on his Twitter account.

The letter, which was also posted on the MEP's microblog, suggest s that sanctions should be introduced against 29 Russian citizens, in particular these sanctions should include prohibiting issuance of EU visas to them, freezing their assets, and confiscating their property in the EU countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is fist on the list of those suggested for sanctions.

The letter was signed by 57 MEPs.
