The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has declared invalid acts of sanitary legislation published by the central executive power agencies of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic and the central executive power agencies of the Soviet Union.

This is outlined in cabinet resolution No. 94-r of January 20, 2016 posted on the government's website.

According to the document, sanitary, sanitary and hygienic, sanitary and antiepidemic, sanitary and biosecurity, antiepidemic, hygienic rules and requirements, public sanitary and biosecurity standards and sanitary regulations are declared void.

The resolution will take effect from January 1, 2017.

Acting Head of the State Sanitary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine Sviatoslav Protas told Interfax-Ukraine that the resolution revokes the sanitary requirements of the Soviet Union adopted before 1991.

"The sanitary requirement system was too regulated, and the major part of former Soviet Union's acts is out-of-date.

He said that the large number of sanitary acts that are required to protect health of people are still in effect.
