Yatseniuk asks G7 states to support Ukraine in signing new trilateral gas agreement

During a meeting with the ambassadors of G7 member states, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk asked them to support Ukraine in signing a trilateral agreement on gas supply and transit between Ukraine, the EU and Russia.

According to the press service of the Ukrainian government, Yatseniuk said that last year Ukraine and the G7 achieved a tripartite agreement on gas supplies to Ukraine and gas transit to the EU.

Yatseniuk appealed to the G7 asking that they support Ukraine in the implementation of the mechanism as it operates today.

"[Do this] to ensure safe transit to the EU and gas supply to Ukraine on the basis of a comprehensive agreement between the EU, Ukraine and Russia, which should include a tripartite protocol, as well as an annex to the existing contract between Naftogaz Ukrainy and Gazprom. Together we can succeed in signing the same deal we had last year," he said.

He added that the Ukrainian government greatly appreciates the support of G7 countries in his country's fight for its territorial integrity and independence.
