Russia intelligence service coordinates militant Grad, Uragan attacks in Donbas – SBU

1 min read

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has accused the Main Intelligence Directorate Russian General Staff of the Armed Forces of coordinating the attacks of militants using missile artillery on Ukrainian military personnel and civilians in Donbas.

"We clearly see that special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate [of the Russian General Staff] set all conditions and provide [the militants with] missile artillery and Grad and Uragan [multiple rocket launchers], which arrive from Russian territory to shell both the Ukrainian armed forces, as well as the peaceful population [of civilians in Donbas]," head of the SBU counter-intelligence department Vitaliy Naida said.

He presented two documents dated September 12-26, and September 14-17, 2014 to back up his position.

"The processed information proves that through this period a number of Ukrainian populated areas have been shelled with missile artillery. Ukrainian troops haven't been located in all these residential areas. The special units of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate provide bombing of the civilian population of Ukraine and we blame the Main Intelligence Directorate General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces for this," he said.
