NATO secretary general notes increase in Russia's military air activity
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has noted the increase in Russian military air activity and once again called on Russia to stop supporting separatists in the east of Ukraine.
"We see a more assertive Russia to the East, violating international law, annexing part of another country. This is the first time this has happened since the Second World War there has been an illegal and illegitimate annexation of Crimea," he said at a press conference in Reykjavik on Thursday.
"Because we should do whatever we can to support the efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Eastern Ukraine," he added.
The NATO secretary general also noted that Russia increased its military air activity.
"We have seen substantial increase over a period of time. And we have not only seen increased numbers of flights; but the flights are also more complex, more advanced," he said.
Stoltenberg once again called on Russia to stop supporting the separatists and to make sure that they use all their influence over the separatists so they are respecting the ceasefire and withdrawing their weapons from the contact of the frontline.
