Freedom House president sees no signs of extremism in Ukraine

1 min read

President of the international human rights organization Freedom House David Kramer has said he hasn't seen in Ukraine any evidence of extremism and radicalism, as claimed by the Russian Federation.

"The Kremlin propaganda is trying to paint everything that is happening in Ukraine as being caused by fascists and extremists. I have not seen evidence of that. I do recognize that there are some parts of the opposition that are viewed as far-right, but I don't see them playing a dominant role in the current political situation. I have seen surveys that show that their ratings are very low.

He also noted that some leaders of the Right Sector and Svoboda were making efforts to reach out to certain communities and try to dispel the notion that they are anti-Semitic or anti-Russian.
