EU support to Ukraine depends on Yanukovych's willingness to do deal, says Yatseniuk after meeting with Fule

The EU support to Ukraine depends on the willingness of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to make the appropriate decisions, leader of the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction Arseniy Yatseniuk said after a meeting with European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule.

The meeting took place on Tuesday evening, the press service of the Batkivschyna party reported.

"We have just finished a discussion with our European partners about how we see the new Ukrainian Constitution, the new composition of the cabinet, a new action program for the country and a new economic program," Yatseniuk said after the meeting.

"The Europeans are standing by us, and it all depends on whether Yanukovych understands where we are now and what the consequences of him not taking the appropriate decisions will be... We want to hear from Yanukovych, if he is ready for this," the opposition leader added.

In an interview with reporters after the meeting with Fule, Yatseniuk noted that on February 10 the foreign ministers of the EU member states decided to give their full support to Ukraine, which consists of political and economic packages. As regards the political package, the politician said that a new constitution and a new government and a new program of action were on the agenda. As for the economic package - a program of financial stabilization from the international financial institutions was being prepared for Ukraine, he said.
