First meeting of new Mejlis of Crimean Tatars to be held on October 31

The first meeting of the new Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, which was elected at the first session of the sixth Kurultai (congress) of the Crimean Tatars, will be held on October 31, according to posted on the official Web site of the Mejlis on Monday, citing the chairman of the Mejlis, Refat Chubarov.

The meeting participants will discuss issues related to the formation of structures, divisions, departments and services of the Mejlis.

Chubarov said that on November 1, the Khan Jami mosque in Bakhchysarai, after Friday prayers, would host a ceremony for the new Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people to assume office. The event will bring together members of the Mejlis elected by the delegates of the Kurultai of the previous session, as well as delegates of the Kurultai of the sixth convocation.

On October 26-28, Simferopol hosted the first session of the sixth Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people, at which the delegates elected Chubarov as the new chairman of the Mejlis.
