A government commission investigating the causes of the crash of a plane in Donetsk on February 13, 2013 has said that there are no remarks regarding the actions of air traffic controllers and meteorologists, but there was thick fog near the airport, the press service of Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul has reported.

"The preliminary findings of the commission are now the following. There were no mistakes in the actions of air traffic controllers. There are no remarks from the air space service. The meteorologists gave a correct weather forecast, which was passed to the crew. The actions of the crew are currently being analyzed," Vilkul said live on Inter TV Channel.

"A medical examination has currently been completed - alcohol and drugs were not found in the blood of the crew. The deciphering of flight recorders has started. There was bad weather. There was thick fog on this day near Donetsk airport. The commission will give the final cause of the accident after the investigation," he added.

As reported, the An-24 aircraft of South Airlines on flight from Odesa to Donetsk made an emergency landing at Donetsk Sergey Prokofiev International Airport at 1824 on February 13. During the landing the aircraft hit a weather tower, the right wing grazed the ground, and then it overturned and its fuselage broke.

A total of 52 people were on board the aircraft, including eight crewmembers. Five people were killed, and nine were hospitalized.
