Speaker Rybak hasn't signed petition for holding Rada's special session due to forged signatures

Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Rybak has not signed a document about scheduling an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada for January 31.

At a press conference in Donetsk on Friday, he said that on Thursday morning he received 158 signatures of people's deputies, who asked to hold an extraordinary session.

"I was ready to sign an order to hold a special session on January 30 or 31," he said.

However, Rybak was approached by MP Vladyslav Lukianov of the Party of Regions, who said that some of the signatures on the petition had been forged. "The signatures were forged. Eleven MPs, who signed the petition for holding an extraordinary session, are currently abroad," he said.

According to him, these eleven lawmakers are representatives of the Batkivschyna faction, the UDAR and Svoboda factions.

After that, these signatures were matched with the original signatures kept in the Verkhovna Rada's office and they were found to be forged.

"Of course, I told the office to clear this up. If the signatures were forged, I will not sign (the document about holding an extraordinary session of the parliament). If by thisevening they report that they have 150 signatures, I may sign it," he said.
