Rybak notes legality of his actions during vote on appointment and dismissal of NBU governor

Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Rybak has said that he acted in accordance with the constitution and the parliament's rules of procedure during the vote on the appointment and dismissal of the governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

"I again want to note that in accordance with Article 88 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada head chairs its meetings. During the consideration of the said issues I fulfilled the constitutional requirements and the provisions of the rules of procedure regarding the organization of their consideration," the parliament's press service quoted Rybak as saying in response to the filing of lawsuits by UDAR Party leader Vitali Klitschko and regional branches of the party regarding violations committed during the vote on the appointment and dismissal of the NBU governor.

He said that he drew the attention of MPs to the need for strict compliance with the requirements of the constitution in the issue of personal voting.

"Thus, there is hardly any reason to question the legality of my actions," he said.

Rybak also expressed hope that in future the Constitutional Court would consider these lawsuits in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution of Ukraine.
