Azarov: Winter tests should not be a surprise for respective services

The major tests of winter are yet to come, and the respective services must be prepared for them, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
"There has been no real cold snap this winter. All services must be prepared," the media liaisons office of the government's secretariat quoted him as saying at a government meeting on Monday.
Azarov said that snowfall and a drop in temperatures were expected this weekend, so all utility services, subdivisions of the State Service for Emergency Situations and the Infrastructure Ministry should be prepared for active work in such conditions.
"There should be no failures," Azarov said.
He also noted that preparations were being made for a flu epidemic, which could probably be expected in the near future. In particular, Azarov said that the necessary prevention measures were being taken, pharmacies and medical facilities being provided with medicines and materials, explanatory work being conducted with the public, etc.
