There can be no invitation to NATO of part of Ukraine’s territory – Zelenskyy

Only a part of the territory of Ukraine cannot receive an invitation to NATO, since this will be an automatic recognition that all other territories are not Ukrainian, therefore the invitation must be for all territories, explained Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"There can be no invitation to NATO of part of the territory of Ukraine. This is an automatic recognition that all other territories are not only in danger, and all other territories are not Ukrainian ... If this is an invitation, then only for all territories," Zelenskyy said at a press conference following a meeting with European Council President Antonio Costa in Kyiv on Sunday.

At the same time, the head of the Ukrainian state stressed that the fifth article of the North Atlantic Treaty cannot operate throughout the country during the war, since NATO countries are "against the risks of involving them in the war."

"Ukraine has never involved anyone in this war, I mean about the armies of NATO members," the president added.

Zelenskyy also noted that if he raises the issue of the participation of NATO troops in the war in Ukraine, "half of the allies will reduce their support."
