Switzerland to provide CHF 1.5 bln over 4 years for Ukraine's recovery projects
Switzerland will allocate CHF 1.5 billion over the next four years for Ukraine's recovery projects, involving the Swiss private sector, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure.
"Switzerland will provide funding and engage the private sector in Ukraine's recovery projects. This was agreed during a meeting between Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Minister of Communities and Territories Development, Oleksiy Kuleba, and Switzerland’s Ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova, Feliks Baumann," the ministry's press service stated on Facebook on Thursday.
"An important focus of our cooperation remains the 'Early Recovery' projects, within which the Swiss government plans to allocate CHF 1.5 billion for reconstruction projects in Ukraine over the next four years," said Ambassador Baumann, as quoted by the press service.
Of this amount, CHF 1 billion will be directed, as before, to local governance, demining, and humanitarian aid.
"The remaining funds will be allocated to recovery programs involving the Swiss private sector. To underline our serious commitment, a Swiss representative responsible for implementing this project will be working in Ukraine. Currently, a delegation from the Swiss private sector is in Kyiv to assess Ukraine's needs in the sectors overseen by the ministry, focusing on medium- and long-term prospects," Baumann said.
Swiss assistance will help create new jobs in various regions of Ukraine.
