Ukroboronprom delivers first batch of 122-mm artillery shells to Ukrainian army, produced under domestic technology at foreign facilities

The Ukroboronprom State Concern, in cooperation with a NATO country, has launched production of 122-mm artillery shells abroad and has already managed to ship the first batch of the specified ammunition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"This is the third type of ammunition after a 120-mm mortar mine and a 125-mm tank projectile, which are manufactured according to Ukrainian technology and with the involvement of Ukrainian highly specialized specialists at foreign facilities," the concern's press service said on Wednesday.

It is specified that the 122-mm projectile is used by Ukrainian artillery when working with D-30 trailed howitzers (maximum range of destruction - 15,400 m) and self-propelled guns 2S1 Gvozdika (maximum range of destruction - 15,200 m).

"The order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was preceded by factory tests, at which Ukroboronprom confirmed the necessary tactical and technical characteristics of the projectile: the strength of the hull when fired, the stability of the equipment, the maximum firing range, the accuracy during firing, and the completeness of the rupture of the projectile," the concern noted.

They add that the number of fragments of the specified ammunition significantly exceeds the fragmentation of the regular Soviet sample.
