Mobile communications operator lifecell in partnership with IoT Ukraine launches first segment of national IoT network in Kyiv

The mobile communications operator lifecell jointly with IoT Ukraine (Internet of Things) start building the first segment of the national IoT network in Kyiv, the operator has reported on its website.

The first stage of the joint project is to cover Kyiv city.

The test launch of the network is scheduled for August.

Under the joint project of lifecell and IoT Ukraine, the installation of the first 40 towers begins. This will cover more than 90% of the city's area and will allow connecting about 200,000 devices.

"During the first phase of the project, online solutions will be tested for the smart city, logistics services, environmental monitoring, smart home, etc. The data will be used by customers to test the functionality of the platform and IoT technology sensors like LoRaWAN," the operator said.

According to lifecell, among the suppliers of applications and gadgets are famous world and Ukrainian developers and manufacturers.

The lifecell's press service told Interfax-Ukraine that the launch of the IoT network will be at low frequencies of the 868 MHz spectrum that does not require licenses and that in Ukraine is provided for telemetry.

According to the operator, the creation of a national IoT network will enable the connection of millions of different devices and sensors in many spheres of the economy and will satisfy the population's needs in modern IoT services.
