KPI managers give no permit to install towers in KPI territory by mobile communications operators

Top managers of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" (KPI, Kyiv) do not allow Ukrainian mobile communications operators to install towers on its territory, President of Kyivstar Peter Chernyshov wrote on his Facebook page.

"The stronghold of Ukrainian science - the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute - still remains practically without mobile communication. The management of the university is radiophobe, and they do not allow operators to put its towers on the territory [of the university]," he wrote.

Chernyshov said that the operator repeatedly offered to improve communications, spoke to the management of the university for years.

"They even got a sanitary passport, confirming that there is no danger for bright minds - young and not very young. Sanitary passports have been already annulled! However, nothing has helped," the president of Kyivstar said.

Kyivstar services around 26 million subscribers in Ukraine. Its shareholder is international group VEON (earlier VimpelCom Ltd.). The group's shares are listed on the NASDAQ exchange (New York).
