Techimpex denies OCCRP allegations on company's involvement in illegal re-export of arms from EU to Africa, Middle East

The private Ukrainian defense company Techimpex has decided allegations of the international journalist organization Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) on its involvement in the illicit re-exports of arms from the European Union (EU) to Africa and the Middle East.

The company said in an official statement that it is not the authorized special exporter and the company is not directly involved in exports of military goods and services.

"The company carries out exports transactions only via the government authorized state-owned enterprises-special exporters. All foreign economic contracts are to be assessed by authorized public services and implemented only after receiving the required permits and certificates from the State Export Control Service of Ukraine," Techimpex said.

The company said that Techimpex is carrying out its operations strictly observing national and international legislation setting the rules for import-export transactions with military goods.

"Our operations are not directly linked to exports of military goods and we know nothing about supplies to Africa, the Middle East and Asia," Techimpex Director General Volodymyr Kalina said.

"These reports more discredit the entire defense and industrial complex of Ukraine than our company before Ukrainian and global society," he said.

Techimpex was founded in 2003. The company is engaged in public defense procurement. Since 2014, Techimpex repaired over 200 armored vehicles and knots in the interests of the Defense Ministry, National Guard, Interior Ministry, Emergencies Ministry and other law enforcement agencies. Since 2017, the company is part of the League of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine uniting over 30 private companies.
