Enforcement of antitrust fine on Gazprom won't affect gas transit

The decision by Ukraine's Antimonopoly Committee (AMCU) to fine Russian Gazprom UAH 172 billion will not affect transit of Russian gas to Europe, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nassalyk told journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"It is technically impossible to take the transit gas. Apparently, the AMCU will seek other ways to enforce its decision. Although this is even more the powers of the executive services, not AMCU," he said.

It was reported earlier that Kyiv Economic Court ruled in favor of AMCU's lawsuit seeking enforcement of a fine against Gazprom totaling UAH 172 billion.

The official exchange rate on December 14 was UAH 26.1/$1.
