Kyiv, April 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The situation with business development in Ukraine is positive and German companies want to enter the Ukrainian market, Director of Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations Dr. Rainer Lindner has said.

"The situation with businesses in Ukraine in the post-crisis regime is developing rather positively, trade between Ukraine and Germany is growing, and is 20% higher," he said at a press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

Lindner added that German companies have many capabilities that could be beneficial for Ukraine.

"I want you to know about our capabilities in various spheres and branches: in the issues of energy efficiency, engineering, agriculture, healthcare, and other spheres," he said.

In connection with this, Lindner, as head of a committee that represents interests of around 200 companies and industrial unions, is planning to visit a number of Ukrainian cities to discuss cooperation.

In turn, former Ministers of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Head of the Institute of Strategic Planning Anatoliy Tolstoukhov said that this is the only project of a kind in Ukraine. He also said that regional civil institutions would participate in it along with Dr. Lindner, who knows the situation in Ukraine very well.

"This is not a short-term project, as it will be implemented in all regions of Ukraine in several stages, and will be aimed at presenting Ukraine to Europe. I think that it will have a positive meaning in the year when Ukraine and the EU are actively developing their cooperation, when we are to host the Euro 2012 [European Football Championship], which will be a test for our compliance with high requirements of the European society," Tolstoukhov said.

In turn, Olena Berezovska, Editor-in-Chief of The Kiev Times publication, which initiated the project, said that the German expert would visit Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, and Donetsk regions.
