Kyiv, March 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Mossovet State Academic Theatre in Russia has brought to Kyiv a musical play entitled "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", in which Russian actor Aleksandr Domogarov plays the lead role.

The play will be performed on March 28-29 at the Lesia Ukrainka National Academic Theatre of Russia Drama.

"The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a musical drama in two acts based on the story by Robert Louis Stevenson and the U.S. musical by Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse "Jekyll and Hyde."

"There are many good plays in the Mossovet repertoire, but this is the one of the best for me. It's our version of the American play 'Jekyll and Hyde.' You can't really call it a musical - it's a musical play, because there's a lot of dramatic text, and the vocal parts of all the actors were left practically unchanged," Domogarov said at the press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

He said that after the Americans put on the play, the Japanese, Germans, British and Czechs also brought it to the stage.

"Basically we took the American version, but also added German and English [elements]. It's physiologically a difficult play for me, as I'm not a singing actor, but there are wonderful artists who will sing and please our Kyiv audience - Irina Klimova and Ekaterina Guseva - our stars," the actor said.

Domogarov said Ukraine was the second country after Israel to which Mossovet has brought its play.
