Tourist service head forecasts decrease in price of tourist services
Kyiv, March 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The head of the State Service on Tourism and Resorts of Ukraine, Anatoliy Pakhlia, has forecast a decrease in the cost of tourist services in 2009 because of financial and economic crisis in the country.
"At meetings with business entities we constantly talk about the need to take into account the actual financial state of every family, and when setting prices [for 2009] for tourist services, we should decrease them," Pakhlia said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.
At the same time, he said some of tourist operators and business entities have announced their intention to decrease prices for the coming 2009 summer season.
Pakhlia said about 25 million people visited Ukraine in 2008, while in 2007 the figure was 23 million people.
