Kyiv, March 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukraine! I stand by you! Charity Fund has launched the Grant Hope! Project to support the hemodialysis department at the Okhmatdyt National Children's Hospital.

"Unfortunately, the need for dialysis is only 10% satisfied in Ukraine," coordinator of the Grant Hope! Project Tetiana Vaschenko said at a press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine in Kyiv on Friday.

She said some of departments of the Okhmatdyt Hospital are in decay, and the dialysis department is one of them. According to her, this department saves the lives of 700 children per year, but it needs new equipment - namely a body composition monitor worth UAH 122,000.

"Such an apparatus could save the lives of 300 children per year. This means a child's life per day," Vaschenko said.

The organizers of the projects aim at raising the sum necessary for buying this equipment within three months.

As a part of the project, a party with participation of celebrities and public people will be held on April 4 at one of the capital's clubs with the aim of attracting attention of the public to problems of children that suffer from renal impairments. The assets raised during the party will be spent on the diagnostic apparatus for the dialysis department at the Okhmatdyt Hospital.
