Nestle intends to invest some $15 m in Svitoch confectionary in 2012
Kyiv, February 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Switzerland's Nestle in 2012 is planning to invest some $15 million in its Svitoch confectionary based in Lviv.
"The [investment in Svitoch] amounts to some $15 million - it has been specified," Managing Director at Nestle in Ukraine and Moldova Maurizio Patarnello said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
He said that investment would be used to develop sweets sold by weight, bars of chocolate and coffee. In particular, the company is planning to install a new NESCAFE coffee packaging line.
Patarnello also said that Nestle plans to invest $5 million in the construction of a distribution center in Kharkiv, which will distribute products in eastern Ukraine.
As reported, last year the company invested some UAH 126 million in the upgrading and expansion of its production facilities in Ukraine.
Nestle has been operating in Ukraine since 1994. Nestle in Ukraine consists of Lviv-based CJSC Svitoch confectionery factory, Nestle Ukraine Ltd., OJSC Volynholding (the Torchyn brand), and Technocom Ltd. (the Mivina trademark).
Nestle promotes international brands such as Nescafe, Nesquik, Maggi, Nuts, Friskies, KitKat, Nuts, etc.
Nestle's business in Ukraine encompasses coffee and beverages, confectionery goods, condiments (sauces, herbs, spices, and soups), food for children and special foods, quick-prep breakfasts, pet food, and ice cream.
