European Media Platform proposes codification of Ukraine's information legislation
Kyiv, April 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The International NGO European Media Platform has proposed that representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and civil society, together with experts, sign a memorandum of understanding on the priority of the information society's development in Ukraine and to codify the country's information legislation to bring it in line with European standards.
"Now that the Internet penetration rate has broken the 30% barrier and is rapidly developing, the development of information technologies should be a priority," Director of the European Media Platform Oksana Prykhodko said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.
"We believe that the information society's development is essential for Ukraine and the conditions for its development should be created," said the president of the organization and former co-rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for Ukraine, Hanne Severinsen.
