Kyiv, March 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A new bill amending the Tax Code envisages stricter measures to protect intellectual property rights, Head of the Intellectual Property Rights Department of the Department of Non-Tariff Regulation Measures of the State Customs Service of Ukraine Oleksiy Hashytsky has said.

"We are amending the Tax Code in the sphere of intellectual property rights protection," he said during a roundtable "Pirated Goods in the Fashion Industry" hosted by Interfax-Ukraine on March 11.

In particular, according to him, the bill cancels the necessity to make a deposit during registration in the customs register of customs goods, and expands the list of intellectual property under a special regime while crossing the border.

"When the new code is adopted, it [the list] will include certain varieties of plants, and even inventions," Hashytsky said.

According to Hashytsky, the service cooperated actively with international companies while drafting the legislation in the sphere of the protection of their rights.
