Head of Kyiv Regional State Administration says Regions Party to be in lead at local elections in region

Kyiv, September 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of Kyiv Regional State Administration Anatoliy Prysiazhniuk has said the Regions Party will achieve significant results at local elections in the region.

"We are sure of our result. The work, which I am carrying out, already today is bringing results, if previously the BYT was in the lead on the territory of Kyiv region, then today the Regions Party has left the BYT behind in terms of percentages," Prysiazhniuk said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.

Commenting on statements by leader of the opposition bloc Yulia Tymoshenko that the government in Kyiv region is preventing the Batkivschyna Party from participating in the elections, he said: "I am not interested in those conflicts the BYT has today. I don't care whether it is Bondarev, or Maibozhenko, or it is Hubsky or Tymoshenko - whoever represents the party organization [in Kyiv region], if they are registered (and as you know, I have nothing to do with this) we will cooperate with them."

According to Prysiazhniuk, the Regions Party doesn't plan to withdraw the candidacy of Oleksandr Oliynyk as Kyiv's mayor, but if he loses the elections the party is ready to cooperate with any future mayor.
