Ukraine's strongest man to be selected at tournament in Kyiv on August 28

Kyiv, August 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A tournament entitled "Ukraine's Strongest Man" will be held in Kyiv on Saturday, August 28.

"The final tournament of the season for the title of "Ukraine's Strongest Man" [will be held] on August 28. The co-organizers of the event are Kyrylo Chuprynin, Vasyl Vyrastiuk, Mykola Tyschenko and me," Vice President of the Professional League of Strongmen of Ukraine and world record holder in the weight category of up to 105 kg Sergey Konyushok said at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Thursday.

According to him, the Tonis TV Channel will cover the People's Strong Man project.

"The broadcasting of the People's Strong Man TV project has finally started, which you can watch… every Saturday at 1600 on the Tonis TV Channel. The project will last for 14 weeks."

Konyushok noted the Professional League of Strongmen of Ukraine organizes such competitions for altruistic reasons.

"This is not a business project," the sportsman said.

President of the Professional League of Strongmen of Ukraine and two-time winner of the World's Strongest Man title Vasyl Virastiuk, in turn, said that the league has no permanent partners or sponsors, but nevertheless there are plans and the desire to hold various sports competitions.

President of the Beach Volleyball Federation in Kyiv Mykola Tyschenko said that the Ukraine's Strongest Man tournament will be held on the Olmeсa Plage beach in the city's Hydropark.

The tournament begins at 1300. At the opening ceremony, a performance by rap singer Larson is expected.
