Ukraine! I'm For You! Fund starts fund raising drive for Okhmatdyt Hospital
Kyiv, August 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukraine! I'm For You! International Charity Fund has initiated a project entitled "The Breath of Life" aimed at raising funds to purchase lung ventilators for Kyiv's Okhmatdyt Specialized Children's Hospital.
"Why we decided to initiate this project? We found out that 55,000 children are examined at the Okhmatdyt Hospital every year. At the same time, about 400 children are placed in intensive care every year... They badly need lung ventilation... A lung ventilator costs $29,000. The manufacturer will compromise and give us a discount. Now our main task is to raise $18,000," the coordinator of the Breath of Life Project Yuriy Poliashko said at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Tuesday.
He expressed hope that with the help of volunteers participating in the project they will manage to raise the necessary amount, and even more. "At least in two months we will do everything possible to collect money for one such machine," Poliashko said.
"We are ready to go with collecting tins into the streets and ask people to participate in this project, and we will organize personal meetings with sponsors and hold grand parties," he said enumerating methods of raising assets.
Chairman of the board of the Ukraine! I'm For You! International Charity Fund Oleksiy Mushak said: "After two years of suspension we resumed this project, which is aimed at purchasing lung ventilators. In 2008, the fund presented Kyiv Maternity Hospital No. 1 and the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology with such machines."
In turn, Head of the endocrinology department of the Okhmatdyt Hospital Larysa Nyfontova, on behalf of medical workers, expressed gratitude to the fund representatives and volunteers for realization of this project, and noted its importance.
A volunteer from the project, the well-known dancer Vlad Yama said: "I would like to call for everyone to join us, because we can do more together."
